Enter each course grade along with its credit hours, then click "Calculate" to see your GPA instantly. The formula used is simple: GPA = Total Grade Points ÷ Total Credit Hours, where grade points are found by multiplying each grade's point value by its credit hours.
For example, an A (4.0) in a 3-credit course gives 12 grade points. If you also earned a B (3.0) in a 4-credit course, that's 12 more grade points. Total: 24 grade points ÷ 7 total credits = 3.43 GPA.
Your semester GPA only reflects the grades and credit hours from courses taken during a single term. Your cumulative GPA, on the other hand, is calculated using every graded course you've taken across all semesters, giving a complete picture of your overall academic performance.
To calculate a cumulative GPA, add together the total grade points from every semester and divide by the total credit hours attempted across your entire academic record, rather than just one term.
If your school uses a percentage-based or country-specific grading system rather than letter grades, you can still estimate a GPA on the standard 4.0 scale. Most conversion charts treat 90% and above as an A (4.0), 80–89% as a B (3.0), 70–79% as a C (2.0), and so on, though exact cutoffs vary by institution and country.
This calculator is useful for tracking your academic performance each semester in high school or university, planning what grades you need to reach a target GPA, calculating your cumulative GPA across multiple semesters, converting international or percentage-based grades to a 4.0 scale, or checking eligibility for scholarships and academic programs.
Multiply each course's grade point value by its credit hours to get the grade points, add up all the grade points, then divide by the total credit hours. For example, an A (4.0) in a 3-credit course gives 12 grade points.
Yes, the calculator works with the standard 4.0 grading scale and lets you enter grades and credit hours for as many courses as needed.
Convert your percentage to the nearest letter grade equivalent using your institution's grading scale (commonly 90%+ = A, 80–89% = B, and so on), then calculate GPA as usual using those letter grades.
Semester GPA only includes grades from one term, while cumulative GPA includes every graded course across your entire academic record to date.
If all your courses carry equal weight, you can approximate GPA by simply averaging your grade point values. However, for an accurate GPA, credit hours should be included since courses often carry different weights.
