The interactive discount calculator tool appears here
Enter the original price, then enter the discount percentage, and click "Calculate" to see the final price and the amount saved instantly. The formula used is simple: Final Price = Original Price × (1 - Discount ÷ 100).
For example, if an item costs $250 and has a 30% discount, first find 30% of 250, which is 75. Subtract that from the original price: 250 − 75 = $175. That's your final price, and you saved $75.
If you know the sale price and the discount percentage, you can work backward to find the original price using: Original Price = Sale Price ÷ (1 - Discount ÷ 100). For example, if an item sells for $89.63 after a 46% discount, the original price was about $165.99.
If instead you know both the original price and the sale price, you can calculate the discount percentage that was applied using: Discount % = ((Original Price − Sale Price) ÷ Original Price) × 100.
Sometimes a purchase has more than one discount applied, such as a seasonal sale combined with a coupon code. In these cases, the discounts are applied one after another rather than added together. For example, if a 30% off coupon is followed by a 10% off sale, apply the 10% discount first, then apply the 30% discount to the already discounted price to get the final total.
This calculator is useful for working out the sale price during a shopping discount, comparing deals with different discount percentages, calculating how much you save on a purchase, checking store discounts before checkout, or figuring out the final price of several items bought together at a discounted rate.
It's also handy for salespeople and shop owners who need to quickly calculate a markdown price for customers, or for shoppers who want to verify that an advertised discount matches the actual price reduction.
Multiply the original price by (1 - discount ÷ 100). For example, a 400 item with a 20% discount: 400 × (1 - 20 ÷ 100) = 320.
Yes, along with the final price, the calculator shows the exact amount you save.
Yes. Divide the sale price by (1 - discount ÷ 100) to get the original price. For example, a $70 item after a 30% discount had an original price of $100.
Subtract the sale price from the original price, divide the result by the original price, then multiply by 100 to get the discount percentage.
Stacked discounts are applied one at a time, not added together. Apply the first discount to the original price, then apply the second discount to the new, already-discounted price.
